The research team has been more than twenty years delivering added-value aeronautic innovation projects, ranging from the design of new satellite based communication systems to the provision of algorithms, simulation components and integration platforms for the next generation of aeronautics systems of air navigation, approach and landing with clients and partners worldwide. Atos Engineering Services has 15 years track record in aerospace and EN9100 certification for aerospace activities. It is currently a team of 150 mechanical engineers dealing with design and stress activities related with composite (CFRP, Kevlar, Sandwich…) and metallic (aluminum, titanium, both machined and forged), mainly for primary structures (Frames, Skins, Stringers, Spars and Ribs) and secondary structures (fittings and system brackets).
ATOS is already an Airbus supplier delivering two projects, covering engineering support to Concessions and Reparations for Airbus series aircrafts and stress analysis methods, processes and tools at a near shore development center. ATOS takes part in the project with their engineering and software development. They are building the link between the engineering, the certification and the part lifecycle prognosis. Additionally, ATOS has experience in R&D in the following areas: System Wide Information management (SWIM), Risk management for emerging threats to aviation systems, Advanced control and de-confliction algorithms, Advanced operational concepts, Decision-aid technologies, ICT technologies (adapted ICTs, geopositioning systems, smart-devices, RFID, QRCodes, etc.) for innovative monitoring, tracking, production and onsite, assembly support. Therefore ATOS will be a key contributor to the design and implementation of the IT-Platform. The approach will be based on the outputs and knowledge acquired in past research projects where Internet of Things (IoT) and Autonomic Computing topics have been applied, e.g. Selflearning and proactive reasoning for the anticipation of IoT application requests; Resource-Constrained Platforms for improved Energy and Resource Management; Management Frameworks to facilitate provisioning, deployment and operation of heterogeneous IoT devices and services; enhanced participatory sensing and resource sharing in IoT applications; and Crossdomain solutions to enable horizontal and federated operation of IoT systems on the Cloud with complex ownership regimes.
